Cape Wrath Art Adventure 2021!

And I need YOUR help for this one!!

The project:

This May 2021 I should have been walking the Cape Wrath Trail, a 230 mile hike through the wildest and most rugged scenery of North-West Scotland, from Fort William to the very tip of Cape Wrath. I planned to create art from the walk, and to raise funds for Venture Scotland, a fab outdoor young persons charity I volunteer for.

Originally, this was planned for May 2020, but like most of us, my plans have been affected by the pandemic. And this year again, travel restrictions, and family reasons, mean I won’t be able to walk the trail as planned.

How to get involved!

But I am undeterred!
I am creating this years ‘Cape Wrath ART Adventure’ instead.
Part of the original project was to create artworks from my own hike along the trail, both drawings on location as well as paintings created after completion.

But now, I intend to create a series of drawings from pictures of the areas the trail goes through; an art version of the trail I am not able to walk myself yet.

This is the part of the Cape Wrath Art Adventure where you come in!

-Have you been to any of the areas covered by the Cape Wrath Trail, north of Fort William, to the Cape Wrath lighthouse?
-Have you visited Knoydart, Kintail, Torridon, Ullapool, Assynt or Sutherland?
-Do you live/work there?
-Do you have any photographs or memories of a day trip or weekend adventure?
-Have you walked the full trail, or parts of it?

Do you have a photo or a story to share?

If so, I would LOVE to have a wee chat with you about your experiences, and see any favourite photographs you might have. I’ll make a drawing inspired by your photo and story, which will then become part of the art version of the trail.

I’ll send you your own fine art print of the drawing your photo/story inspires. All going well (depending on covid retrictions) I would also include it in my exhibition at the John Muir Trust ‘Wild Spaces’ gallery in their visitor centre in Pitlochry later this year.
